Fatty liver occurs when excess amount of fat is present in the liver. It is caused by various underlying conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, excessive alcohol consumption, high fat diet and a reckless lifestyle. If a doctor or healthcare provider diagnoses fatty liver, they will recommend lifestyle changes. Your liver alcohol is responsible for breaking the material. If you have fatty liver disease, then eating too much alcohol can affect your liver that can make your condition worse by placing greater demand. Thankfully, you can do a lot to prevent liver disease. You may have heard that your liver is a good way to keep your liver healthy. Here are the common treatments used to cleanse fatty liver–

  1. Every alcoholic drink you drink like wine, beer, etc., the more you drink, the worse your liver will get. Over time, drinking too much can destroy liver cells. Alcohol related liver disease (ARLD) includes several conditions such as: alcoholic fatty liver disease, acute alcoholic hepatitis, alcoholic cirrhosis.
  • Your diet plays an important role in the overall health of your liver. Your diet benefits your liver long-term. Choose whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, dairy and healthy fats. Foods such as grapes, blueberries, almonds, and fatty fish are known for the liver. Fibre is essential for facilitating liver function. Fruits and vegetables and whole grains are great sources of fibre in your diet. Drink enough water each day to keep your liver healthy. Foods like fat, sugar, and salt can affect liver function over time. Fried and fast food can affect your liver health. Coffee reduces the risk of liver diseases like cirrhosis and liver cancer. It prevents synthesis of two causes of liver disease.
  • Supplements like medicines, vitamins, minerals and natural remedies are processed by your liver. Just because a product is natural doesn’t mean it will be good for your liver long-term. In fact, many seemingly harmless products are capable of causing harm. Green tea, which is a common herbal supplement extract, can affect your liver. Even vitamins, especially vitamin A and niacin, can cause liver damage if you take too much of them. To avoid liver complications, talk to your doctor before taking supplements.
  • All medications—whether over the counter or prescribed by a doctor—eventually pass through your liver. Most medications are safe for your liver when taken as directed. Taking too much or the wrong way of a drug or taking more than one drug at a time can damage your liver.

 Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is an example of a common over-the-counter drug that can have serious consequences for your liver if taken incorrectly.

  • The more toxins introduced into the body’s system, the more toxins the liver has to deal with. Increasing the burden on the liver is never a good recipe for a successful liver detox. Reducing or eliminating all animal proteins, alcohol, sugar, wheat, corn, soy, tobacco, processed foods, caffeine and nuts can protect your liver from some long-term diseases.
  • At least eight hours of rest is required every night. Sleep regulates metabolism as well as targets the brain and nervous system toxins, which are an important component of the liver’s elimination. Sleep shuts down unnecessary physical activity so the body can redirect its energy resources toward processing, healing, restoring, and detoxifying. The lymphatic system is the body system that works alongside the liver to send toxins packing while you sleep as well as restore cognitive, physical and behavioural functions that improve mood, focus and endurance.
